The Lost City of Machu Picchu

There is a place called Machu Picchu in Peru, South America. It's sometimes called the 'Lost City of the Incas,' and nearly 8,000 feet up in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Julio explains to tourists that Machu Picchu is known all over the world and it's one of the magnetic centers of the ancient world. He is a tour guide. Machu Picchu is more than 500 years old. Many visiters who are from all over the world come to there. They climb up the mountain in the sunshine or fog. When the Inca civilization ended, Machu Picchu was lost to the outside world for a long time. In 1911, an explorer found it again. His name is Hiram Bingham. Machu Picchu was forgotten by people but many people comes here every day. Machu Picchu became a very special place. Tourism is certainly changing the area.
